Olio Nuovo Collection

Inspired by the autumnal Italian olive oil harvest, I created this mini pottery collection.
Olio Nuovo in Italian is simply New Olive Oil, which usually is harvested in Umbria in October. This collection of wheel thrown stoneware glazed in Eggshell white with brown speckles.
The swirl dish can be used however you please, but we like it as a fun presentation and olive oil pouring dish.
The oil cruet is a simple little stoneware bottle with a cork top, perfect for those whole buy oil in bulk and want to decant into smaller gift size vessels.

60 vases

To celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Infiorate, an annual flower festival in Spello, Italy, bc mcleran handcrafted a numbered collection of 60 vases. The stoneware clay was hand-thrown on the wheel, dried for 8 hours, refinished on the wheel, then bisque fired in an electric kiln at 1000°C, cooled for 24 hours then glazed, dried for another 24 hours, cleaned, then fired again at 1280°C in an oxidation atmosphere. The glazes chosen for this collection were inspired from the local stones which cover most of the buildings in the village from the Subasio Mountain. The locals call it the pink of Subasio. The non toxic homemade glaze recipes of neutral tones were named, Pavolva, a satin milky white with subtle sparkle, Porcini, a semi shiny deep warm beige and Peony, an almost shiny delicate pink.

This collection began with a story of a meeting with a monk who desired a functional yet multi purposeful cup that would keep the wares down to a minimum, yet function for many usages.
